Throwback Thursday: LawTech Center

It’s Thursday! You know what that means to the world of social media: #ThrowbackThursday, or #TBT. Today we are celebrating Throwback Thursday with a blog post remembering a piece of the Legal Technology Resource Center’s history: the LawTech Center.

The Legal Technology Resource Center is currently an ABA member benefit provided by the Law Practice Management Section but has had a long history of transitions within the American Bar Association. At one point, the LTRC offered a physical resource center. This center, known as the LawTech Center, offered legal professionals the chance to test the latest law office technology at the time. During its prime around 1997, the center included the following hardware:

  • Electronic Filing
  • Communications
  • Personal Computers
  • Voice Recognition
  • Power Back Ups
  • Printers and Scanners

The LawTech Center also offered the opportunity for individual appointments to have one-on-one interactions with a technology expert. View the images below to get a better picture of what the center looked like:
